What Is Google Search Console? Free SEO Data from Google

Google Search Console (GSC) is Google's free tool that shows how your site performs in Search — queries, clicks, impressions, indexing status and technical issues — straight from the source.

Unlike third-party suites that estimate, GSC reports Google's own data about your site: the exact queries you appear for, your click-through and position, which pages are indexed, and any crawling or structured-data errors. It is the first tool I connect on any project because it is ground truth, not an approximation.

It is also increasingly useful for AI search. The queries and questions you already surface for hint at the prompts models may pull you into, and healthy indexing is a precondition for being cited at all. Pair GSC with AI visibility work to connect classic and AI discovery.
